After learning the difference between Realistic, Abstract, and Non-Objective Art students created an Abstract or Non-Objective Abstract design. We then reviewed color mixing and used only the Primary colors plus black and white to create all of the colors that you see here!
We used acrylic paint for a finish coat. Check out the final product on the Student Art Galleries page on the left!
Students observed and drew their shoes after completing some practice Contour Drawings. After tracing their drawings with Sharpie, the drawings were photocopied, colored, and cut up and used creatively in a collage.
The 5th graders are so excited to be using clay! We learned how to make Pinch Pots, and how to form Slabs and Coils from clay. The students learned a little about the history of clay use, then sketched ideas for their Pinch Pot animals. They're learning a lot about sculpting while also having fun with the clay.
5th grade learned how to draw 3D forms such as cubes, cylinders, pyramids, and prisms. Then the students used their imagination to create a robot to do a job for them.
We practiced making shapes appear to be 3D using a drawing system known as One Point Perspective. For our final artwork, students drew shapes in Perspective, then we did a quick color mixing review and students mixed colors using only the Primary colors plus black and white.
5th grade practiced drawing 3D shapes like cubes, cylinders, and pyramids. They then used those shapes in a drawing of robots that would be able to do a job for them!
Our 5th graders were so excited to work with clay! Students learned how to make simple bowls called pinch pots. They were able to turn them into an animal, either real or imaginary. After firing the clay in the kiln, The students painted them with acrylic paint.
