Our Art class begins by learning about Architecture through the ages. what makes an ancient building look ancient? What characteristics does a victorian home have? What does a modern building look like? Students chose a style (or invented their own) and are busy designing their buildings this week.

Glaze will give our creations a glossy, colorful, finished coating. Once the glaze is painted on, it will be fired again in the kiln. Look for your child's clay projects to come home at the end of the rotation in a few weeks! Until then they will be in the display cabinets in the school's common area. Pictures of the finished projects will also be posted on the Art Gallery page. For our final project this rotation, 5th grade reviewed what we have worked on during our 7 week class- ancient art (clay), architecture, realistic art (shading and shadowing and one point perspective) and finally Abstract design. We're also reviewing how to mix the three primary colors of red, blue, and yellow to create orange, green, and purple. |
